An Infusion of Inspiration

In November, the Oloi design team and performance racing team convened at Buttonwillow Raceway outside of Bakersfield, CA for two days of pushing our cars to the absolute limit. Dust clouded the crystal blue skies as the Oloi Porsche 911 GT3 whipped around turns with one goal in mind: the fastest lap possible.

The mornings were crisp and cool, but as the days progressed the sun began to beat with an intensity that mirrored the pulsating screams of the engines. Our race crew worked diligently tuning and re-tuning. The drivers assessed conditions to determine the proper tires to maximize grip and handling. Engineers employed and tested specially developed prototypes. Team captains analyzed the results after each heat. Between the hustle and bustle our designers had the opportunity to summit with Oloi team drivers to discuss their experiences behind the wheel.

Both halves of the Oloi team talked over common apparel issues and painpoints. Comfort, flexibility, and functionality were highlighted as most the most crucial features. The drivers shared their expertise on how best to capture the energy of performance racing in our apparel pieces. In all, our designers became fully indoctrinated in the high-octane thrill of a track day. The palpable energy also benefited our drivers, who finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in their respective classes. The team walked away with a feeling of accomplishment, both on the track and at the design board.
